You have decided you want a website. Here is quick checklist.
- You will need a domain name. Have you decided on one? Is it available ? looking at around $25 per year based the type (com.au or .com) etc.
- Hosting services. - You will need to by hosting. This is quite wide ranging. Going from $100 to anywhere per year, if you want to host in Australia. Its cheaper in US. You should try and host it in the same country most of your audiences are. It reduces the lag.
- Design - Look and feel of the website. This can be very simple to quite complex and expensive based on your requirements. Go through the web and make a collection of websites you like to get a better estimate.
- Do you have any media to go by, like pictures of your organisation/company and logos.
- If not you will need a designer to come up with the look and feel of the website. This will cost you money, but it will be worth it.
- Building - The cost and effort of this varies quite a lot too based on what you need.
- You should have the ability to edit the content your self. (saves you money in the long run). You will need a CMS for this.
- Your visitors should have the ability to contact you by email.
- There should be a blog of the sorts to document the activities by your organisation. The fresher and more the content, the better it is for your site.
